Dining rooms come in various sizes and styles. First, let's talk about Breakfast Nooks:

Breakfast Nooks are usually smaller extensions off the Kitchen and augment, rather than replace, the primary eating place in a home. Does your home have a Breakfast Nook that needs remodeling? Knox New Look can help!

In the image on the left, you see a Breakfast Nook at one home that has large windows on two sides with French doors on the third side. Of course, it faces the kitchen on the fourth side. Previously, this family had a traditional table and chairs in this space, but they wanted to convert it to a European-style area in which long benches span the width of the windows. These are divided into four sections with the tops lifting up for hidden storage. The family will be purchasing pillows to go on the benches and a white European-style table with other chairs that can be easily folded and put away when not needed. Naturally, they also replaced the linoleum floor with the wooden floor shown here.

As for Dining Rooms, there are formal Dining Rooms that are typically rooms of their own, with decorative chandeliers, trey ceilings, and elegant walls. There are also more practical approaches to Dining Rooms, as the one shown on the right.

Of course, you can tell by looking at the image on the right that it is an open floor plan. It was not originally so. In this home, the family requested to removed two walls - the one separating the Dining Room from the Kitchen and the other separating the Dining Room from the Living Room to create this open floor plan. This included installing a steel beam in the ceiling right above the china cabinet seen on the left.

Sometimes the Dining Room is also supplemented by an island that supports chairs or stools for people to eat there, as well. That, in some cases, takes the place of the Breakfast Nook mentioned above. Take a look at the image below to see an example.
